Major brands have already adapted their content to vertical video. It is a way to get closer to your followers, grow your audience and build your brand.
Social media trends
Instagram Stories had a huge impact in 2018 as well, giving brands the chance to tell their story, show their brand and connect with people of interest.
We’ve put together a list of trends to watch out for 2019.
- INSTAGRAM > IGTV
- IGTV If you haven’t heard about it, used it or uploaded a video yet you should do so. Launched in June 2018, IGTV (short for Instagram TV) is the social media platform’s long-form video sharing. Unlike previous limited 30-second video uploads, IGTV allows users to upload up to an hour length video. The videos are stored in your account in a separate channel, having easy access to view all of the account’s video in one place.
- Quality content, ensure you’re uploading quality videos, original content and be consistent
- Unlike youtube, IGTV prefers vertically-shot videos. Dimensions should be similar to instagram Stories (1,080 pixels by 1,920 pixels, or an aspect ratio of 9:16)
Although IGTV allows uploads of 60 minute videos, you don’t have to make videos that long to get noticed. Giving viewers more than 30 second videos but not exceeding five minute videos seems to work well. Remember the Internet is filled with information, you don’t want to hold your viewers attention for too long, they might loose interest.

What else would be trending for 2019? 2-MICRO-INFLUENCERS
- A lot of companies had a marketing budget in 2018 for Influencers (which mostly include celebrities), and this marketing tool has seem to work for them. What happens with “Influencers” is that they’ve become so big, that they are too expensive for some companies to consider. That’s where Micro-Influencers come in.
- Defined as: everyday consumers who have 500 to 5,000 highly engaged followers around relevant topics.
- Micro-Influencers unlike Influencers are chosen not by celebrity status and reach. But it is more of a categorized reach. A company trying to sell purses will likely reach out to a micro-Influencer that loves purses. That way the ad becomes more trustworthy, the person engaging with the purse lover will likely trust the suggestion to the new purse coming from the purse lover rather than a celebrity.
